Chemical Compatibility Chart

Silicone rubber has excellent chemical compatibility with a wide range of materials, often providing and advantage over other materials with similar elastomeric properties. In particular, silicone displays outstanding chemical compatibility with water, aqueous and most chemically polar substances. However, while silicone still has good compatibility with larger non-polar oil molecules, silicone is not typically compatible with small non-polar molecules such as fuels and paint thinners, and is also incompatible with strong concentrated acids and bases. A chemical compatibility chart for silicone elastomers is available below, with comparisons to other common rubbers.
